Equipment needed

The game itself

For each gaming session, students will need to have the specific game we’ll be playing already installed and ready to go.

Whether it’s a team-based strategy game or an individual adventure, having the game pre-installed ensures we can dive right into the action and make the most of our time together.

The Right Gaming Device

Each class listing will confirm which gaming devices are compatible for playing the game with me.

Even though a game may be available on your device, it might not support crossplay with my device, so please double-check the listing before class. This will help us avoid any issues and keep the session running smoothly.

Headset or Headphones

For the best communication during our sessions, students should use a headset, headphones, or an ear piece, possibly with a built-in microphone.

Clear audio is essential for good communication, teamwork and following instructions, so this will ensure that everyone can hear and be heard without background distractions.

A camera or webcam

A camera is required at the start of the session to confirm each student’s identity, but it doesn’t need to remain on for the entire class.

However, keeping it on throughout the session helps with better interaction and engagement, creating a more fun and dynamic experience.

PlayStation Plus or
Xbox Game Pass
(if applicable)

If the class listing states that you can play on PlayStation or Xbox, then you will need an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription to access online play.

Be sure to check the listing for those details to ensure you're ready for the session.

A Microphone

A working microphone is essential for effective communication during our sessions.

Whether it’s built into your headset or a standalone device, clear audio ensures that you can participate fully, contribute to group discussions, and follow instructions without any issues.

Internet speed

A stable and fast internet connection is crucial for an optimal gaming experience. If you usually don’t have any issues with your internet while playing games online, then you should be fine.

A speed of at least 50 Mbps should work really well. For the best results, consider using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi to minimize lag and disconnections.

Mobile Phone??

Using a mobile phone can be a great option for participating in my gaming sessions and connecting to Zoom.

It can serve as your camera for identity verification, as well as connect a headset or earbuds for audio. If your earpiece has a built-in microphone, that will allow for clear communication during gameplay.

Ensure your phone has a good internet connection and that you have a way to charge it during class to maintain a stable connection and quality interaction.

Extra

  • Any charging cables for phones, laptops or controllers

  • A quiet background environment

  • Game updates are done before class

  • Ensure you can access the game and everything is set up before class.

  • Maybe a notepad and pen
